The employer HSA contribution is fixed at $1,000 for employee-only HDHP coverage and $2,000 for all HDHP tiers with dependents. PPO and Kaiser HMO have no employer HSA contribution.
Annual cost = annual employee premiums + medical expenses after HSA. The source table’s medical expenses already include the HSA adjustment, so the contribution is not subtracted again.
High use represents frequent visits, including emergency room care, reaching the HDHP and PPO plans' out-of-pocket maximums. The calculator uses the table’s resulting medical expense estimates; it does not calculate cost sharing from actual billed charges. Tax savings and employee HSA or FSA contributions are not included.
Estimated costs assume in-network providers. Actual costs will vary depending on the care you and your family receive.
Rakuten strongly believes in the value of the HDHP plan offering due to the lower premiums and Rakuten's ability to fund your HSA. Rakuten also recognizes the HDHP may not be right for everyone as you must satisfy your deductible before the plan covers a portion of your care and you must be comfortable owning and managing the HSA.
